39FILMS (39F) is an independent audiovisual production company based in Italy, founded in 2011 by Dario Lanis and Alfredo Federico.

39F produces documentaries and feature films, mainly focused on social and political content.

The company has co-produced films and documentaries with many countries around the world, ranging from documentaries shot in Tajikistan to the first official Italian co-productions with Kosovo and Georgia.

In 2014, 39F began collaborating with Simona Banchi, producer of several films and documentaries, including The German’s Factory, Fascists on Mars, Viva Zapatero!, The Reason of the Lobster, Draquila, 148 Stefan, and Despite the Fog by Goran Paskaljević.

Their projects include Andromeda Galaxy directed by More Raça (Best Film, Matera Film Festival), Negative Numbers directed by Uta Beria, Soledad directed by Agustina Macri (Warsaw Film Festival), Takeaway directed by Renzo Carbonera (Rome Film Festival), The Beat Bomb directed by Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani (Torino Film Festival), the Italian remake of Conversations with Other Women directed by Filippo Conz, House Is Where the Films Are directed by More Raça, Catartis directed by Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani (Rome Film Festival), Dollars & Garbage directed by Michele Rovini, Don’t Close That Door directed by Francesco Banesta and Matteo Vicentini Orgnani (Best Documentary, Rome Independent Film Festival), and The Real Beings directed by Vakhtang Jajanidze.

Upcoming projects include Back to Buenos Aires directed by Marco Bechis, Volterra, il manicomio perduto directed by Simona Banchi, and La voce che resta directed by Marco Bechis.

In 2006, Alfredo Federico was actively involved with The Latin American Film Company, which produced high-profile auteur films such as Tropa de Elite, directed by José Padilha (Golden Bear, Berlin International Film Festival, 2008), and The Burning Plain, directed by Guillermo Arriaga (Official Competition, Venice International Film Festival; Marcello Mastroianni Award, 2008).

In 2011, he founded 39FILMS in Italy, and since 2018 he has been a member of the European Film Academy. In 2024, together with Marco Colombo, he founded the film development company Writing Box.
